All going well with the cufflinks.
I have a new customer, Michael Rose of Burlington Arcade.
He has ordered 6 pairs, skulls, owls, labradors.... the only thing is he wants them 150mm which is SMALL!
I have to sort out better magnifying systems. I use the head set with a glass in it, but I dont like it much. Quite uncomfortable.  I have to do something as the poor old eyes hate this.  But drawing these tiny things is good fun.
A Savile Row client has asked for something completely different, working with the suit fabric for buttons and links, so there is no overlap.

Been to COLLECT this weekend, where I was delighted to see the ceramicist Hitomi Hosono, who was at the Royal College while I was there and who is a delightful person,  has deservedly won the Perrier-Jouët Arts Salon Prize, 2013.

On the Road

Today I took myself to Savile Row and introduced myself to many shops.  I showed the cufflinks and had lots of great responses.
They are not right for some people, of course, but for those who specialize in hand made, UK produced specialty items.... well, they loved them!
I was asked:
Can you do the shop logo? Yes
Can you do this coats of arms? Yes
Can you paint them to match the fabric of a suit? Yes
Can you do buttons? Yes, I can!!

Yippee.

To apply to the AWG (see last post) I had to submit work, a cv, a sketchbook and any publications. In addition, an artists statement.
This is an extract:
...As if looking through the wrong end of a telescope, the jewellery collection focuses all my experience into a tiny, intimate format, framed in silver and designed to be worn close to the body. I feel, while this endeavour is the culmination of all the experimenting and research carried out on a variety of scales over three decades, there is plenty of room still to grow and improve....
The pics are all in and looking good. We have cufflinks, drop earrings and stud earrings so far.
Justin is busy making pendants, rings, bangles and there will be some boxes too, made with the large lenses that are too heavy to wear.

Also, happy to say I have been elected this week as a member of the Art Workers Guild, www.artworkersguild.org

Chexk out the website: I have been working hard redoing it. All the jewellery is up and for sale, as well as the book, DVD and the pdf.

White gold engraving under glass,
set in hall-marked silver, pic. Ester Segarra
So, the first pic of the new collection!  There are cufflinks, hanging earrings and earrings with studs.
There are going to be all sorts more, now we can see how they look.
I am working with the jeweller Justin Richardson, www.justinrichardson.co.uk, so they are beautifully set and polished. They will be £408 inc VAT, (retail).
